Are you feeling depressed today? Good! Keep it up!.…??

Life isn't perfect. Life doesn't always turn out as planned, even though the Swedish motivational speaker Olof Röhlander says the opposite :-)

Why doesn't it turn out as planned?? Yes, because, no matter what any inspirational speaker says, you can't control everything that happens to you.

We can talk about "The Secret", "Law of attraction" etc. And so do I. Because I know it works!

AND.. even if it works, even if you've seized the helm and are directing your life instead of your life controlling you — even if you can control most of what happens to you and what you experience, you can't control everything!

Let me take an example:
No one could predict the tsunami in Thailand in 2004. And we could not predict how fatal it would be or how it would affect people. It had an enormous impact on people, even here in Sweden. People who may never have set foot in Thailand. This is because what happened there had consequences here at home.

I myself lost a friend, one of my scout leaders, who I used to have in my team. That is, an event or consequence that affects someone here at home, but which you CANNOT control.

It may also be the case that you don't always have the strength, or right then have the opportunity to control what happens in your life. Then the consequences of what happened can also be difficult to deal with. We can get down, sad or depressed. And that's perfectly fine, I think! You can be depressed. You may be disappointed with what is happening and how it affects you. You can feel sad and pity yourself.

You must be given the opportunity to feel sadness. Because otherwise you don't know what joy and happiness are. Hmm… Let's say it again… If you haven't experienced sadness, disappointment, frustration and being depressed, then how are you supposed to know what joy and happiness are? How then can you rejoice and enjoy the euphoric feelings that are the opposite?

So, if you're depressed, get on with it. It's just a feeling. It passes! So if you want to, be depressed for a day or two, but don't let any negatice feeling be permanent! Don't let it take control over you.

Life goes up and down. But you can choose to be on the higher part of the curve instead of the lower part. We will return to how you do it in coming blogs.  Then you will get tips on how to get out of your depression.

But, if it is a temporary feeling — remember that it is temporary. It's just a feeling. Be observant of what is part of you and what is outside of you.

Now, when you feel down... There are things you can learn.
My opinion is that when you become depressed, you often become depressed because you suffer the consequences of something you don't appreciate. But at the same time, it is my opinion that the depression comes from the fact that you have learned something. You have gained an insight. You have gained a new understanding and you have learned something new. You are outside your comfort zone, outside the safe and comfortable. Here you have an enormous opportunity to learn and grow.

Become aware what you learn abd take it to heart. Ask the question: What does this mean for me? What can I learn from this? What can I do next time to avoid this outcome?

THEN you have the opportunity to take what you learned and create new strategies to create a different outcome.

Always do your best and every day will be magical.
