Use your procrastination
Have you ever wanted something, and bought it, to find that a few weeks or months later, you are no longer using the item that you wanted so much that you bought it?
I bet you have! I have! And would suggest that most people have.
People keep telling us all that procrastination is bad and in every other coaching session the topic is how to overcome procrastination. Why?? Procrastination is great!
"Procrastination is great??"
You probably think I've been hit in my head with something really heavy... "People DON'T want to be procrastinating! And you say it is great?"
Yes! Actually I am.
Procrastination is great - IF AND ONLY IF you use it to your advantage!
Let me explain what I mean:
Most people are procrastinating in taking actions, creating results that would take them further in life, actions that would benefit them in creating the life they want, or a taking that step closer to achieving their dream. Whatever it may be. In that case; I agree - procrastination is one of the most harmful habits in your life.
However, using the natural "laziness" of human kind and procrastinating on every purchase you do, procrastinating on buying all the things that you want - then procrastination is great!
Most people act in teh same way; when there is something they want, they go and buy it. And many times the items bought will be used for a short period of time, and then it will just become another item taking up space in your home. Right? Really think about this! How many of the items you have bought lately is something that you really use on a regular basis?
How to practice procrastination in a great way
Whenever there is something that you want to purchase, why not just put off the purchase for somthime?!
Think about the item you want. Think about what you want to do with it. Think about how long you will use it and how much you will use it. Think about all the benefits and joy it will bring you, using it on a regular basis. Then wait!
Don't purchase the item yet! Put it off as long as you can. Let days, weeks and even months go by... The longer you wait, the less eager you becom in purchasing the item, in most cases. But for the item that you really want, the wish for them will not go away. And then, eventually you will purchase the item.
But for all the items that go away from your mind, that you no longer want after a period of time, you will have saved the money of the purchase. Now, instead of being $XYZ poorer, you will have the opportunity to invest that money into savings or stocks, or whatever you are investing in.
Instead of that money giving you momentary satisfaction, the money will contribute to your long term monetary freedom.
What is it that you want to purchase today - that you can put off buying right now? Comment below!
